Stratford Library to Sponsor Teen Job Fair
Teen Services is planning a DO YOU Need a JOB after High School? Job Fair on Saturday, March 31st from 11am to 2pm in the Lovell Room at the Stratford Public Library. In addition to many technical schools such as Brio Academy, Porter and Chester, CT Broadcasting and Branford Hall and agencies as AHEC and American Red Cross, they have invited a number of small business owners such as electricians, auto mechanics and contractors to this event. Presenters will be available to meet with individually for both teens and parents. If transportation to the library is an issue, complimentary bus tokens will be made available through Teen Services.
Career Training Opportunity for BHS Students
BAYM is currently registering students for its Computer GenesisTM Winter-Spring Sessions. The eight-week Computer GenesisTM courses are designed to teach teens how to use and troubleshoot PCs. The courses begin the week of February 20th and end with graduation ceremony on April 12th. Students attend workshops twice a week and can register for either the Monday / Wednesday or Tuesday / Thursday course. Classes are held at The Industrial Youth Center, 506 Logan Street in Bridgeport and meet between 5:30PM to 8:00PM. The course fee is only $20 per student, which is a reduction from the prior course fee of $50. Students who complete the program receive a BAYM certificate and a refurbished personal computer at graduation. A Call for Submissions to UNLEARN and ALLUSIONS
Unlearn, the BHS literary magazine, is now accepting submissions for the May 2012 publication. Unlearn is dedicated to raising awareness of difficult issues such as abuse, neglect, alcohol and drug addiction, and depression. The magazine includes poetry, artwork, short stories, and photography. Unlearn writers and artists may also take part in a video that will accompany the Unlearn read-in. http://tinyurl.com/6ysmamu

BOE Revises Policies on Homework and Dress Code/School Uniforms

Parent Portal Remains Open to Parents
The Stratford Public School System continues its efforts to enhance communication with parent(s)/guardian(s). BHS parents now have the ability to view their child's grades, attendance, and other information securely via the Internet using the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Parents must first visit the BHS main office and present photo ID to obtain a secure password.Parents/guardians can acces the Parent Portal via the District’s website by clicking on the Parent Portal link(http://www.stratfordk12.org). Located on this site is an easy-to-follow tutorial, frequently asked questions, and other support documentation.
