Career Planning Seminar

Grades 11 & 12

This one-semester course provides the student with an opportunity to develop an individual career portfolio and make plans for their future. The student will complete an interest inventory, research their career interest, and develop an academic/employment plan of action. The career portfolio will contain the following documents: a resume, completed employment and college applications, letter of application, thank you for the interview letter, acceptance letter, two reference letters, certificates of achievement, evidence of community activities, and a college essay. Students will also develop an electronic portfolio that will be a collection of work that tells the story of their efforts, progress, and achievements. Guest speakers enhance classroom activities. Students find this course extremely helpful in improving their organizational skills and preparing for their academic and career goals.
