Sports in College

The National College Athletic Association (NCAA) is an association
of member colleges that make certain rules governing eligibility,
recruiting and financial aid.

Prospective student athletes who wish to participate in Division I
or II intercollegiate athletics should:

     1.   To regIster, prospective student athletes should access the the registration materials by visiting the new Clearinghouse website at:  www.ncaaclearinghouse.net

From the homepage, the prospect should click on "Prospective student-Athletes", which will link the student athlete to the necessary information.  Paper forms are also available in the Guidance Office for students who wish to pay by check or money order. However, the NCAA strongly suggests an on-line registration.  Once the registration form is completed, students must submit an authorization form to release records to the Guidance Office.

           Students are advised to become familiar with the eligibility
           requirements of the Clearinghouse:   

• Core units required for certification
  

• NCAA GPA as it related to the Initial Eligibility Index of SAT/ACT scores
  

• Bunnell's "List of NCAA approved Core Courses"

• Make their counselors aware of their plans to participate in a sport at the college level immediately.

• Start the certification process during the spring of the junior year.  To be certified by the clearing house, you must meet the "Freshman Eligibility Standards"
